The Colony Club was the latest venue for Manhattanville’s popular Cocktails and Conversation alumni event on Wednesday, June 25th. The event was hosted by newly appointed Board Chairman Don Callahan, ’78, and his wife, Lisa, who, as a member, was responsible for inviting the Manhattanville community to the renowned club.
The room was full of spirited conversation as attendees enjoyed their cocktails and hearty hors d’oeuvres. After welcoming guests to the event, Callahan announced that he and his wife would be underwriting the event meaning all of the event fees paid by attendees would now become gifts to the Fund for Manhattanville. This generous act emphasized the importance of participation in the Fund by alumni and speaks highly of the new Chairman’s commitment to the College. Callahan also represents a three-generation legacy at Manhattanville, with both his mother and son being fellow graduates of the College. Please click below for Callahan’s full remarks.
President Jon and Jean Strauss also addressed the group and spoke about the success of the 2014 academic year. During his remarks, President Strauss informed guests of the many wonderful activities and advancements that have taken place on campus this spring, including the successful Commencement ceremonies and the establishment of the Rodney Dangerfield Institute for the Study of Comedy, which he believes will have a major impact on fine arts activities at Manhattanville.
The event was an incredible opportunity for alumni to catch up with one another in a beautiful and distinct setting. Additionally, the evening provided a chance for Manhattanville College to express its encouragement of and thanks for alumni support, which over the years has enabled countless students to have access to a quality and personalized liberal arts education.
We would like to extend our thanks to hosts Don and Lisa Callahan, as well as the members of the event host committee including Patricia McCann ’60, Sally Rogers ’72 (Trustee), Ted Hynes ’83, Heather Leeds ’84, Joe Narus ’86 (Trustee), Fred Allatt ’02, President Jon Strauss and Jean Strauss.
